Kanta-Häme Hospital District switching to Android

Kanta-Häme Hospital District, Hämeenlinna Region, has used Medanets mobile point-of-care documentation since 2011, when the solution was introduced with Windows Mobile devices. Now, the old mobile devices have been upgraded to Android smartphones, which adds extra comfort to nursing.

Kanta-Häme Hospital District is one of the first customers of Medanets. The mobile point-of-care documentation was first introduced at Kanta-Häme Hospital District’s Acute Neurology ward in 2011. Since then, the use of the solution has expanded to seven wards, two of which also use Medanets automatic data transferring.

The implementation went very well, and during that time we got support when we needed it. Negotiations with Medanets also worked well – e.g. meetings flexibly with Skype when needed to change the plans .

At first, the solution was deployed in wards with Windows Mobile devices. In the summer of 2017, the mobile devices were exchanged for Android smartphones, and thus the wards also got access to the latest, upgraded version of the Medanets mobile documentation app. New devices and an updated version of the app bring more comfort to nursing, and feedback from nurses has been positive:

Significantly speeds up the recording of patients’ vitals and other observation values – saves nursing time.

Satisfied with the new device – Android device fits nicely in hand.

It is good for the evaluation and reacting process of nursing to see the patient’s previously measured observation values.

It’s easy when all desired observation values can be chosen in “a single block” and then the solution asks for values in order – saves time.

To measured observation values, additional information can be easily and quickly added as a text form, e.g. an oxygen flow rate to saturation level.

Easy to use, and learning is fast (for example, a new nurse from a psychiatric ward learned how to use it right away).

The patient list, which remains on the app based on the measurements, is very good – speeds up nursing.

Enough devices guarantee flexible use.
