The Wellbeing Services County of Satakunta
The wellbeing services county of Satakunta has been using the Medanets app since 2015. The features currently used are Medanets Clinical forms, Observation values, Early Warning Score (EWS) and Monitored patients. Thanks to Medanets Clinical Forms in particular, risk assessments have become a significant part of everyday patient care.
Almost 100% utilisation rate
Currently, the Medanets app is being used throughout Satakunta Central Hospital, as well as at Rauma Hospital. Mobile documentation significantly reduces the number of erroneous entries made, information is always up to date, and it is available to all users. Furthermore, the care process is streamlined by the elimination of duplicate entries.
The solutions were implemented on schedule and within budget. They are now in active use and we have a high utilisation rate – in practice, 100 per cent.

Nursing is streamlined as nurses are able to carry out more information-intensive tasks with just one mobile device. The mobile device is carried in the nurse’s pocket at all times, maximising the amount of time they have to interact with patients.
Clinical forms make nurses’ everyday lives easier
Developed by Medanets in collaboration with its customers, the Clinical forms solution makes risk assessment work as straightforward as possible. The mobile solution calculates any risk score with active support from the Electronic Health Record, shows the nurse appropriate clinical guidelines immediately, and records the risk score in the right patient’s records right away.
Nurse Kristiina Holm of Satasairaala Hospital explains that, thanks to Medanets, risk assessments have become a significant part of everyday patient care, due to how easy they are to use and the guidance they provide.
The app provides a clear review of the clinical form for risk assessment (such as the Braden Scale or NRS-2002 screening), which helps the nurse focus on the right areas of the patient’s care, such as improved nutrition or a new mattress. It guides care without needing extra time – quite the opposite, in fact, as it gets rid of any unnecessary steps. It’s a great help in my work!

“Previously, we would carry out risk assessments manually on the ward. That meant that they were open to interpretation and it could be difficult to find the information you needed again at a later point – it was not at all practical,” explains Holm.
I’ve been on my current ward in the Cardiac Unit for two years now, and during this time I do not believe we have had any patients developing pressure ulcers while on the ward. We are very proactive users of the Braden Scale and respond to any situations that arise immediately, which is what has ensured our fantastic track record when it comes to pressure ulcers.
