In February 2025, the South Savo Wellbeing Services County, Eloisa, introduced the Tietoevry Lifecare electronic health record system along with the Medanets mobile app. At the general medicine ward in Pieksämäki, practical nurses Kaile Ridal and Heidi Kerälä have already seen the positive impact of the new solution. For them, Medanets has quickly become an everyday essential.
Smoother documentation, more time for patient care
The ward is actively using the Observation values and Early Warning Score (NEWS) features of the Medanets app. These features allow vital signs to be documented directly at the patient’s bedside, with data automatically transferred to the EHR—eliminating the need for separate log-ins or data entry at a workstation.
„Thanks to Medanets, we no longer waste time re-entering vital signs into the computer,“ say Kaile and Heidi. „Once we input the data into the app, it’s automatically saved to the EHR system. It really streamlines our work.“
Easy rollout and practical training
The implementation process in Pieksämäki went smoothly, with staff praising the in-person training sessions. „The training was clear and very helpful,“ the nurses explain. They also found the app itself intuitive and easy to learn.
A minor challenge – and a handy tip
While the app has worked well overall, one issue has occasionally cropped up: in dim lighting, the phone’s camera doesn’t always read patient wristbands correctly. The simple fix? Use the phone’s built-in flashlight. In most cases, it can be activated by pressing the volume-up button on the side of the phone while scanning.
