Medanets, a Finnish health technology company based in Oulu, has signed a regional agreement with Helse Nord, the public authority responsible for specialist healthcare services in Northern Norway. The agreement enables the use of Medanets mobile solutions across the entire region of Northern Norway, extending all the way to Svalbard. The area covers approximately 45% of Norway’s total area and serves nearly half a million residents.
The solution integrates with the existing systems used in the region, complementing them with mobile workflows. It enables healthcare professionals to access up-to-date patient information and document patient data directly at the point of care using mobile devices.
Helse Nord is responsible for specialist healthcare services in the counties of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, as well as Svalbard. It operates in one of Europe’s most geographically challenging healthcare environments, where long distances, a dispersed hospital network and arctic conditions place unique demands on information access and efficient clinical workflows. One of the region’s key healthcare providers is the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) in Tromsø, recognised as the world’s northernmost university hospital.
Medanets already has a long history in Northern Norway. The company’s mobile solution has been in use in the Nordland hospital group (Nordlandssykehuset) since 2020, and the solution has been continuously developed in close collaboration with local clinicians. The newly signed agreement now enables proven workflows and best practices to be expanded throughout the entire Helse Nord region. The solution will be taken into use in the whole region during the end of 2026 and beginning of 2027.

This will improve workflows, reduce duplicate data entry, and enhance both quality of care and patient safety“, says Bengt Nilsfors, Head of Digitalization and ICT, Northern Norway Regional Health Authority.
