Tampere University Hospital Introduced Mobile NEWS System

Tampere University Hospital introduced National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system by utilising Medanets app at more than ten inpatient wards.

Medanets app calculates the patient’s NEWS based on the results entered by the nurse and gives the corresponding instructions for appropriate measures. The data is updated into the Electronic Health Record in real time and is immediately available to the other nurses as well. Mobile NEWS automates the score calculation, ensuring that up-to-date information is available quickly to everyone participating in the patient’s care and supporting the decision-making process.

As of 1 June 2017, more than 45,000 patients have had NEWS monitoring through the Medanets app at Tampere University Hospital. Access to the NEWS procedure will be expanded to new wards at Tampere University Hospital during the rest of 2018.
