Sneak Peek: advanced pain scale  

Medanets Observation values has supported the documentation of pain scales, including VAS, as a separate value for a long time. Next year, we will implement an advanced pain scale for the Medanets Clinical forms feature. Our customer has also participated in developing the scale.   

The first version of the new pain scale will be completed in early 2024. The new scale supports the adding of images. This idea was presented to us by our customer who works with children and young people. When the nurse is about to document the patient’s pain, they can show the patient an image on the display, such as the VAS scale, making it easier for the patient to assess their pain. The organisations can choose the imagery for the scale. Thinking about children, for example, the VAS scale could have different emoticons that help the child to describe their pain. The nurse always has the scale and the image with them on the Medanets app, and they do not have to carry paper pain scales with them.  

In addition to images, the scale also supports the adding of links or text (so-called reference data). The text can be, for example, instructions for using the scale. Via the link, the instructions can also be watched as a video, for example, on the organisation’s Intranet.
