On what basis does Medanets process personal data for marketing purposes?

Medanets may process your personal data for marketing purposes if you have provided it to Medanets yourself, e.g. through the contact form on our website (processing based on consent) or if your organisation is a Medanets customer or partner or has another relevant and appropriate relationship with Medanets (processing based on legitimate interest). Medanets has assessed the realisation of a legitimate interest by means of a balancing test, which you can request for viewing from our data protection officer: dataprotectionofficer@medanets.com

What is my personal data used for in Medanets’ marketing?

Your personal data may be used, as permitted by law, for direct advertising, distance selling or other direct marketing or market research.

Medanets publishes an electronic newsletter that is sent by email to persons in the marketing register who have not forbidden its sending (soft opt-in/opt-out). The newsletter is also sent to persons who have subscribed to it via an electronic order form (opt-in).

Where did Medanets get my personal data?

Medanets has obtained your personal data (i.e. your contact information) from publicly accessible sources, such as the website, or directly from you.

What personal data does Medanets process?

The following data may be processed:

  • name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • organisation and position
  • email marketing analytics: received and opened email marketing messages and the actions taken within them (clicks)
  • information you have provided through the SurveyMonkey survey tool or Eventilla event management tool, e.g. related to Medanets customer events.

In addition, messages sent through our website’s contact form and the Serviceform chatbot tool are saved with contact information.

What are cookies and what cookies are used on the Medanets website?

Cookies are data (small text files) stored in the user’s browser. By using them, the website remembers information about the user and personalises the content based on the stored data.

Medanets uses three types of cookies on its website:

  • Essential functional cookies. Our website will not function without these cookies.
  • Cookies related to analytics and user experience (“Statistics”). These cookies provide us with information on how visitors use our website. This information helps us improve the content and usability of our website.
  • Cookies related to marketing. By using these cookies, we aim to, for example, make the Medanets advertising which you may see interesting to you.

The statistics and marketing cookies we use on the website are third-party cookies related to the Leadfeeder tool, the social media channels we use (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) and Google advertising tools. They are used by third parties in accordance with their own privacy statements.

As a user of our website, you can choose whether to allow us to use statistics and marketing cookies.

Our online service Louhi collects IP addresses in accordance with the service provider’s privacy statement.

Who else can receive my data besides Medanets?

Your information may also be received by service providers that Medanets uses in its marketing. These are:

  • Salesforce.com, Inc. (account management system)
  • Mailchimp/Intuit, Inc. (newsletter tool)
  • Google, Inc. (web analytics and search term advertising)
  • Leadfeeder (web analytics)
  • Momentive.ai/SurveyMonkey (survey tool)
  • Eventilla Oy (event management solution)
  • Louhi Net Oy (online service)

Where can Medanets disclose or transfer my personal data? 

Medanets uses service providers whose servers are located in the US. This means that the personal data processed for marketing purposes may be transferred to, stored in or processed in the US. The service providers we use have are certified and committed to comply with the protective measures defined in the adequacy decision of the European Commission.

How long does Medanets store my personal data?

Medanets stores your personal data for as long as your organisation is a Medanets customer or partner or has another relevant and appropriate relationship with Medanets and you are employed by that organisation in a job related to Medanets. Your data will be deleted at the end of the relationship. In the case of email marketing through a newsletter, the information will be stored until you cancel your subscription to the newsletter or the newsletter service ceases to exist. Your data will be deleted without delay if you request its deletion.

What rights do I have in relation to the processing of my personal data?

When your data is processed on the basis of consent, you have the following rights:

  • the right to be informed about the processing of personal data
  • the right to access your data
  • the right to rectify your data
  • the right to erasure (the right to be forgotten)
  • one of the grounds for erasure is that the data subject withdraws the consent on which the processing was based and there is no other legal ground for the processing
  • the right to restriction of processing
  • the obligation to notify regarding the rectification or erasure of personal data or the restriction of processing

Where the processing of your data is based on the legitimate interest of the controller, you have the following rights:

  • the right to be informed about the processing of personal data
  • the right to access your data
  • the right to rectify your data
  • the right to erasure (the right to be forgotten)
  • the right to restriction of processing
  • the obligation to notify regarding the rectification or erasure of personal data or the restriction of processing
  • the right to object to the processing of data.

Subscribers to the Medanets Newsletter and users of the Medanets website have the right to withdraw consent to the processing of their data at any time. Consent can be withdrawn by cancelling the newsletter subscription and/or by forbidding the use of non-essential cookies.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority regarding the processing of your data, in particular in the EU Member State where you have your principal place of residence or place of work, or where the alleged breach of the Data Protection Regulation has taken place.

Do I have to give my personal data to Medanets?

You do not have to provide your personal data for Medanets’ marketing purposes.

Will my personal data be used for automated decision-making?

Your data will not be used for automated decision-making.
